WHO DID AYC SUPPORT
AYC supported 1059 young people in 2017/18 and
increase of 27% from 2016/17. 45% of our
participants were female and 51% male. AYC’s efforts
to engage young woman through our Inspire Program,
Young Woman’s Breakfast Club and School Holiday
programs has maintained good equity of
participation in our service by young woman.
HOW OLD ARE OUR YOUNG
PEOPLE?
53% of young people supported were 15 years of age
and under, 21% 16 to 18 years and 16% aged 19 years
and over. 10% of participants didn’t disclose their age.
WHERE OUR YOUNG
PEOPLE WERE BORN
52% of people supported by AYC were born overseas,
28% were born in Australia with 20% not disclosing
their Country of birth. Young people identified 62
different countries of birth, the top 10 are identified in
the alligned chart with Afghanistan 12%, Pakistan 4.5%
and India 3.5% being the largest groups. 213 or 20%
of young people were born in 52 Countries indicated
in the column “other”. 14% (146) of all young people
identified as arriving in Australia in the last 5 years.
This year has seen growth in support of people born in
Pakistan, India, Sudan and South Sudan and Nepal.

WHERE OUR YOUNG
PEOPLE LIVE
Our catchment was very broad with young
people engaging AYC from over 40 different
postcodes. 20% of AYC participants reside in
Auburn and Auburn South, 10% Berralla/ Lidcombe,
7% Granville/ Holroyd and 6% Guildford. Unfortunately
24% of participants did not identify where they reside.
